These are seedlings off European chestnuts growing out on Redcap road here in Orleans. They have been sold in the past under the name Redcap. These amazing trees are huge, over 100 years old and produce up to 200 or more pounds of high quality nuts per year. Planted by the original homesteaders they are a local treasure. Can be grown out as quality seedling trees, or used as a rootstock for other named varieties of European chestnut.
