White Sapote (Casimiroa edulis) is native to eastern Mexico south through central America to Costa Rica. Also known as Mexican apple, or Custard apple it is truly one of the most delicious fruits. Said to taste like a rich creamy custard with an aromatic banana and mango flavor. Grows well where oranges can be grown. Mature trees can take freezes down to 22 F for brief periods, but anything below 30 F can cause damage. Makes a beautiful medium to large evergreen tree, but can be kept smaller in containers. Hardy zones 8b or 9-11.
