Good as a companion plant with other perennial plantings, ours has naturalized in our asparagus patch where its deep roots, nitrogen fixation, beneficial insect attracting and light shade make a great compliment to the main crop. Sweet and widely used medicinal roots can be harvested after three years. After cutting off the substantial roots divide and replant crowns. Hardy zones 7-9.
