Known as Chaste Tree this attractive shrub or small tree grows quickly to 10 to 25 feet. Can be cut back substantially in the winter and will come back with vigorous growth that will bloom the following season. Large aromatic leaves are topped by 6 to 12 inch spikes of beautiful long lasting fragrant lavender- blue flowers in late summer and fall. Famous as an excellent late season honey plant. Seeds are widely used as a women"s hormonal tonic herbal medicine. Native from the Mediterranean to Central Asia it is a very tough and drought hardy plant. Easy to start from seed or cuttings. Zones 6-9.
