Seedlings of the famed New Zealand Black (formerly Black Boy) peach that is known for its strong disease resistance (including peach leaf curl) and its unique flavor and purple streaked dark flesh. Showing similar genetic traits to the Indian Free peach it has similar fuzzy skin and disease resistance, but instead of the heavy red flesh streaking of Indian Free they are purple. Very good eating with juicy and rich flavor, they do well in climates too wet for regular types. As with the Indian peaches they were traditionally propagated by seed as they come quite true to type.
